How To Get There?

Bled lies in the north-west part of Slovenia, at the foothills of the Julian Alps and near the confluence of the rivers Sava Bohinjka and Sava Dolinka. It is accessible all year round.

If you travel to Slovenia using public transport, we recommend combining it with the shuttle transport to the final destination in Bled.

Low-cost shuttle transfer

By Plane

The nearest airport, the Jože Pučnik International Airport Ljubljana (Brnik), is located 36 km from Bled. Connecting bus transfer services and direct lines or private transportations (through tourist agencies) between the airport and Bled are organised throughout the year.

  • use taxi.

By Car

Slovenia and Bled can be easily reached via major highways from all neighbouring countries: Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia.

Bled is 47 km away from the Austrian border (Wurzenpaß) or Italy (Fusine Laghi – Rateče). To reach Bled you can take the highway (direction Ljubljana) and then the exit toward Bled or you can take the road passing by Blejska Dobrava čez Kočno or the motorway passing by Žirovnica and Lesce to Bled.

Bled is 50 km away from Ljubljana. It is most easily accessed taking the highway or you can take the regional road passing by Medvode, Kranj, Naklo and Radovljica.

Please, note that if you travel by car you will need a vignette to use Slovenian motorways: it can be purchased at gas stations in Slovenia, but we recommend buying it at any gas station in Italy, Austria, Hungary or Croatia before entering Slovenia. We recommend the weekly vignette (15 EUR).

If you came to Bled by car and are staying in one of the recommended accommodation facilities the accommodation includes parking (if available). Otherwise use one of the marked parking lots upon payment.

By Bus

Slovenia and Bled can also be reached from neighbouring countries by bus.

There are several buses running daily between Ljubljana and Bled, the journey takes approximately 1,5 hours. Bus rides from Ljubljana are going through Kranj and Radovljica. Buses also operate from the direction of Bohinj and Jesenice. You may want to consult the Ljubljana bus station website for details.

The central Bled bus station is located on the north-east part of the lake, 3-minute walking distance from the lake, at the cross-section of the roads Cesta svobode and Grajska cesta.

The operator FlixBus provides long-distance bus services to Bled.

By Train

Slovenia can easily be reached by train as there are regular connections with Austria, Germany, Hungary, and Croatia. You may want to consult the Slovenske železnice (Slovenian Railway Company) website for details.

Bled can be reached with two railway connections.

The railway station Lesce-Bled is located along the railway line Oste (Münich – Salzburg – Villach – Ljubljana – Belgrade – Istanbul – Athens). The railway station is 4 km away from the centre of Bled. Bled can be reached by bus (the Bled bus station is on the opposite side of the railway station), taxi or on foot taking an asphalted road intended for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Bled Jezero railway station lies along the railway line Villach – Jesenice – Nova Gorica – Koper or Gorizia (Italy). It is just 1.5 km away from the centre of Bled and you can walk there, take a taxi or ride the tourist train.

Transport around Bled

We recommend that you use sustainable transportation around Bled. Take a walk or go on a carriage ride around the lake or take the tourist train or rent an (electric) bicycle. Do not miss the boat trip to the island with the traditional pletna or rent a boat and row there.
